Top job for council director

Dudley Council's Director of Law and Property has been appointed to a prestigious local government post.

John Polychronakis is the new president of the Association of Council Secretaries and Solicitors (ACSeS) for the next year.

ACSeS liases with central government and the Local Government Association about new regulations and legislation.

Mr Polychronakis, who joined Dudley Council in 1981, will lead its 500 members through an important year of change and concentrate on the changing role of the monitoring officer and standards committee.

Council leader David Caunt said: "It's a great honour for John to be made president of ACSeS and reflects well on him as an individual and the authority as a whole."
